What Causes Fatigue And Shortness Of Breath After Switching From Synthroid To Levothyroxine?
I recently had to change my generic Synthroid, levothyroxine to a different manufacturer due to insurance reqirements. Since taking new generic I am experiencing general malise, low energy, short of breath, weak. Could the generics strength be that different. Not been taking but for about 4 1/2 weeks. So should I wait a little longer to have blood work done to determine level?
Switching from Synthroid to Levothyroxine should not cause any issues. However, given your symptoms, it is possible that the thyroid hormone is being replaced insufficiently. Since you have been on Levothyroxine for about 5 weeks now, you can go ahead and get thyroid function test done. If TSH level is higher than normal and T3/T4 are in lower range, the dosage of levothyroxine can be increased after consulting with your treating physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
