What Causes Fatigue, Shortness Of Breath And Pressure In Chest?

I had an EKG months ago which indicated QT abnormality. I was uninsured soon after and could not afford to pay cash for f/u stress test. Symptoms were fatique, SOB with light activity, and chest pressure. Also, I have increased heart rate. BP is WNL. My RUQ has always been sore . Gall bladder removed which helped somewhat. 3 years ago I had severe pain in right side which was diagnosed as gastric erosion. That seemed to resolve. Recently, past few days, I have experienced a sudden moderate plus pain underneath my LEFT ribcage which increases with deep breaths. My appetite has also decreased, but I do not feel it is related. I have always been healthy and active. My stress level has increased lately. I am a semi retired RN. MY question in a nut shell is, do you think it is cardiac related? Thank you YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you have a history of QT abnormality when you had EKG done in the past & then did not get treated. Now, you have pain in the left side chest associated with fatigue, shortness of breath & pressure in the chest, it is indicative of angina or developing coronary artery disease.

You are suggested to get physically examined, get done lipid profile, stress tests, x-ray, echocardiography, EKG, Urinalysis, CBC at the earliest.

Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected. Do regular exercises, eat healthy homemade food, cut on alcohol, smoking & addictions if any.

To get rid of muscle strain, rib fracture, costochondritis, you can take NSAIDs, naproxen when needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
