Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had thyroid cancer 40 years ago and have been on synthroid ever since. I am on a much lower dose than most people I know. I m always so tired! But my doctors say the numbers on my blood tests are good. Is there something they might be missing since I have no thyroid at all?
Do you have to undergo total thyroidectomy? Are parathyroid glands where they implanted? If it is complete Thyroidectomy may need thyroid hormone to replace.
But also check for serum calcium or parathyroid hormone levels also. Weakness may be due to anaemia or insufficient hormone supplementation or infection or hypocalcemia or depression etc.
Get it done Thyroid profile, serum calcium or electrolytes, haemoglobin then consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
