Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Following a bowel movement sometime later usually during my walk, I have feces leak from rectum. Not watery but solid. My doctor thinks there may be a pocket in colon that holds a small amount and it leaks out. Colonoscopy showed nothing. I cannot feel it when it happens. It will occur after every bowel movement. My primary doctor suggest a saline enima following the b m. That seems to help control it. But there has to be a reason for this. I have heard the term overflow but don t know what it means. Thank you
Hi, From history it seems that you might be having incontinence of anal sphincter giving rise this problem. In this condition there might be leaking of feces after bowel movement due to not closing sphincter and remains slight open due to sphincter muscles do not contract completely. Consult surgeon and get examined. Go for pelvic floormuscle exercises daily. Ok and take care.
