What Causes Feel Of Lump In Throat And Voice Hoarseness While Suffering From Gerd?

Hi, I ve been told that I potentially have Gerd and went through a medication regiment. It went away for awhile minus occasional hoarse voice. Yesterday I began feeling a lump in the throat feeling and some muscle tightness in the left side of the neck. I noticed that my tonsils appear to have a whitish film on them and the left one is swollen. No other issues. I have been a dipper for about 9 years, which causes some paranoia.Thoughts? Thanks for your time

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

GERD can lead to feeling of lump in throat. I suggest you to consult a gastroenterologist for clinical assessment, upper GI endoscopy and thus management of GERD. Continuous regurgitation of acid in throat leads to inflammation of throat mucosa and thus feeling of lump.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
