Hi,
The sensation of a lump on the top of your head and the accompanying headache may have various causes. One possibility is that it is related to tension
headaches, which can cause a sensation of pressure or tightness in the head. Tension headaches are often associated with
stress,
anxiety, or muscle tension in the neck or scalp. However, the lump sensation is not a typical symptom of tension headaches.
Another possibility is that it could be a form of
scalp inflammation or infection. Scalp
folliculitis, which is inflammation of hair follicles, can cause tender bumps or lumps on the scalp. Seborrheic
dermatitis, which is a type of skin condition that causes
redness, flaking, and itching of the scalp, can also cause lumps and bumps.
In rare cases, the lump sensation could be related to a more serious condition, such as a tumor or cyst. It is important to note, however, that most lumps and bumps on the head are not cancerous.
Given the duration and nature of your symptoms, it is recommended that you see a healthcare provider for an evaluation. Your healthcare provider may perform a physical exam, order tests such as blood work or imaging, and make recommendations for treatment based on the underlying cause.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
