What Causes Feeling Disoriented While On Glycomet GP For Diabetes?
Hello! My husband has been a diabetic for several years and has been on Lantus insulin 40 units daily, Glycyphage 1000 SR, Victoza injections daily, and other heart and blood pressure medication. His recent reports show high sugar levels and his liver counts are also high. The doctor has now prescribed Glycomet GP 1 Forte before breakfast and has switched him to a weekly injection of Trulicity 1.5 mg instead of Victoza. Upon taking the Clycomet GP, he started feeling extremely jittery and uneasy. Is this medicine safe to take and what are the common side effects he can expect?
It is suggestive of hypoglycemia (low blood glucose level). Based on the history your husband seems to have developed hypoglycemia apparently by Glycomet-GP 1 forte. Inform his doctor for a possible dose adjustment of Glycomet-GP and more frequent monitoring of his blood glucose to safely use the prescribed medications. The most common side effects of Glycomet-GP include hypoglycemia, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and very rarely a serious condition lactic acidosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
