What Causes Feeling Of Electric Shocks In Thigh While Walking?
I am a 40 year old female. I ve been having what feels like electric shocks in my left thigh on the outer side for the past 6-9 months. Usually seems to happen when I am on my feet a lot, but lately it has been happening more frequently regardless of how much time I am on my feet. I happened to have an appointment with my podiatrist and mentioned it to him and he said it s probably sciatica. I thought that to be strange since I know what that feels like and this is very different. Any suggestions of what might be happening would be appreciated!
hi I did review your concern. Your problems can be due to nerve compression. It depends on which nerve is compressed. If it is occuring on outer and back aspect of thigh it is likely to be sciatic . If it is front and medial aspect of thigh it can be due to meralgia paresthetica due to compression of nerves coming out of inguinal canal into the thigh muscles. I would recommend consulting a neurologist and getting analysed properly in form of neurological examination and nerve conduction studies as well as mri spine to rule out any cord or nerve root compression. I hope this helps. Wish you all the best. Thank you for using healthcare magic.
