What Causes Feeling Of Throat Closing After Consuming A Particular Drink?

I had a sip of a carbonated drink and it felt like my throat was closing up and it was hard to breathe. I ve only noticed it with this one specific drink called Carribbean crush Levi roots (I think). My breathing returned to normal after 20 mins. What could it be?

Hi,

Your symptoms suggest severe allergy to the drink. Please avoid it. You can take warm water with half spoon lemon juice and honey first thing in morning, followed by Pranayama (respiratory exercises) to strengthen your respiratory system.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
