What Causes Feeling Of Veins Being Pressed In Neck?
I have a strange feeling in my neck. It feels like something is pressing on the veins and keeping the blood from flowing like it should. It reminds me of carrying my children on my back when they were little and they would wrap their arm around my neck too tightly. My throat feels fine and doesn t feel constricted. This has been going on for about a week. I have a bad headache today but I don t think it is related.

As per my clinical experience, he feeling of veins being pressed in the neck with headache are of concern as they indicate significant disturbances in the cerebral blood flow most likely. There can be various issues like:
- Aortic regurgitation
- Carotid stenosis
- Others
In my clinic, I do examine patient in details with:
@ Blood pressure, pulse rate, oxygen saturation, breathing rate, pulse pressure
@ Cardiovascular system consisting of heart sounds, any abnormal sounds, murmur
@ Neck pulsations that of carotid
@ Jugular venous changes if any
@ EKG
@ Carotid Doppler ultrasound
