Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Upon review of your medication, I noticed that Prograf is part of your course which is Tacrolimus, an immune suppression drug which has the common side effect of
peripheral edema (leg swelling).
But I suggest getting an evaluation on your liver (Liver Function tests) and a calculation of your Blood Albumin levels to see the healthy functioning of the liver, as you are a transplant patient is it is vital to rule this out.
Other danger signs to watch for liver health deterioration is yellowing of eyes(
jaundice), increasing tendency to bleed or presence of multiple bruising on the skin, vomiting of blood/
blood in stool, visible veins seen on the stomach wall or mental drowsiness/sleepiness.
Also likely cause is Hypertension(
high blood pressure) which can be found it if you have frequent
headaches,
dizziness, fainting episodes and if you can feel your heart palpitations.
Another possible cause is the drug your taking is
Allopurinol which is excreted by the kidneys, any abnormality in the kidney could lead to symptoms (such as blood in urine or reduced volume of urination) could indicate a kidney problem.
Please return to your physician for a follow-up on these new symptoms.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Dr. Ankit Gopinath
