What Causes Fetus Measure Of Only 5 Weeks Instead Of 7 Weeks?

I had an IUI on 7/19/15 and LMP on 7/5/15. According to fertility DR, the fetus is 11 days behind (should be measuring at 7W but currently showing 5W4D. He told me to have M/C as it is an unhealthy pregnancy. HCG levels are at 6800 and continue to double every 3-4 days. Question: Is it possible to have a healthy baby? Dr is 100% sure NO but I am not so sure, and scared to go thru with M/C until I know for sure.

Thank you for asking at HCM.
I understand the dilemma you are going through. There is no urgent need to rush into procedures to abort. In your case I would wait another week to 10 days, even 2 weeks. Meanwhile I would do a HCG and a vaginal ultrasound every 3 days for a week to 10 days. if the HCG continue to double in 3-4 days and if the gestacional sack is growing 1 mm a day and the embryo is appearing this is good news. Around week 6 the doctor should be able to see the heartbeat with vaginal ultrasound, if not it is not normal. If the heartbeat is not seen while the gestational sack shows 6 weeks in vaginal ultrasound or the gestational sack is not progresively growing by 1 mm a day and HCG is not doubling in 3 days than very likely it is not normal.
