What Causes Fever After An Insect Bite On The Upper Lip?
I got a bug bite on my upper lip Saturday morning. Besides a swollen lip, I had no other symptoms. Today around noon I got a fever of about 99.8. I feel wiped out and a little headachy. So do I have a flu and the bug bite was just a coincidence or is it more serious. I live in the Sierra Nevada mountains. And I did not see the bug.
It looks like Infection that can be due to tick bite or other poisonous insects/wasp etc..
Do not work as it can be very well treatable..
So better consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a blood test can be done for confirmation..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkillers, Acetaminophen to reduce temperature and anti allergy medicine if allergic reaction is present.. Also do cool compresses over the lips to reduce swelling.. Take sufficient rest and avoid exertion..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
