Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had Cortizone shot in rt knee yesterday & have possible reactions: very slight feeling of difficulty breathing last night that s all fine today; ugly headache started about 6 hrs after shot & still have now (Tylenol has lessened pain so far) but last 2-3 hrs noticing low grade fever (after Tylenol, which may have reduced it from a higher temp.) What s up with this Doc, will it all go away soon?
Yes, Cortisone injections are known to cause such reactions as I have seen in a few patients in last 35 years. I would advise you the following in such a situation: - Take an antihistamine - Consult your doctor to get clinical evaluation and further treatment - Remember that such injections are not to be taken in future
It is usually the preservative in the injection to keep the medicine potent that cause such reactions. It is better to consult a doctor as soon as possible.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
