What Causes Fever Along With Chest Congestion And Cough?

About a week ago had sudden upper respiratory sickness with 100.5 fever severe head and chest congestion with cough . The worst lasted about two days . For past week since have had about six severe gasping-for-breath-spasms that last about 3 minutes and then subside.
