What Causes Fever Along With Dizziness And Body Ache?

Fever began last night, along with mild dizziness and some body aches. I took Nyquil PM last night and slept well. This morning, fever still @100 so I took 2 extra strength Tylenol around 9:30am. Felt better during day but tired and body aches; napped this afternoon for @ 2 hours. Fever increased to 101.5 this evening @8pm so took another 2 Tylenol @9:45pm. Is it safe to take Nyquil PM again this evening? Aside from mild-moderate headache, no other symptoms. Had annual physical last Thursday morning and all was very good. I'm 72 years of age.

Hi. Most likely you have some sort of a viral syndrome. Tylenol is generally safe up to 4 grams per day. In people with liver disease the dose should be 2 grams or less. If you've consumed 2 grams already would check the bottle for acetaminophen dosage but assuming no liver disease one evening dose should probably be ok. You could also try ibuprofen or alleve which are NSAIDS (non steroidal antiinflammatories) that are metabolized by the kidney and generally don't have liver toxicity.
