I have fever, feels like my heart is racing all of the time, both my ears ache and my throats has been soar for a week. I went to urgent car last week thinking that I had strep throat because I had it a few moths ago and my thought felt the same. They did a strep test and the result was negative. They said I have a virus and it needs to run its course. I m just getting worse each day

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Yes it does sound like a viral infection. Symptomatic relief can be obtained with retain measures and medications.
I recommend :
-gargle with dissolvable aspirin thrice a day (this will help reduce throat, and ear pain by reducing inflammation). Gargle and spit out.
-have sips of warm water /fluids through the day. This helps in warding of virus and treats the soreness.
-take a Paracetamol for the pain and fever every 4 - 6 hrs.
Check your temperature before you take it and record it. If it is below 100 F skip the medicine.

If fever lasts for more than 3 days and more than 101F, or if it drops and comes back again, see your doctor again to check for a new bacterial infection.
Stay well hydrated and rest well
Hope this helps. Wish you good health
