What Causes Fever Along With Soreness And White Dots On Throat?

My 10 year old daughter had a fever of 103 yesterday and today is complaining of a sore throat. Her fever is only 99 - 100 today but her throat is red, she has white dots on both sides of her throat and her glands appear to be swolen. Do you think this is viral or should I take her for a strep test tomorrow?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It’s definitely strep and you should take her to the doctor. Strep must be treated with certain types of antibiotics and the course of the disease has to me monitored by a physician because the strep (bacteria) can move through the blood to the heart and cause severe trouble there if the treatment is not appropriate.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
