What Causes Fever Along With Vomiting And Diarrhea After Hysterectomy?
My mother had a total hysterectomy 3 weeks ago for stage 1 uterine cancer. She has been running a temperature between 100 and 103 degrees F since the surgery. She began having diarrhea and vomiting at the end of the second week and was sent back to hospital for tests. The tests did not indicate presence of infection. She also has diabetes type 2 and takes insulin shots, along with thyroid medicine. The fever was 102 today with violent chills. What do you think is causing the fever? Should we ask for precautionary antibiotics even though her tests indicate she does not have infection. Do you think her thyroid medicine needs adjusting?
