What Causes Fever Along With Vomiting And Fatigue?

Hi, My 4 year old son woke in the middle of the night on Saturday with a fever and stomach discomfort. He threw up twice in the night and was very lathargic all day Sunday. Fever went away yesterday and today he was full of energy. Just about to bathe him and noticed a slotchy rash in arm pits, hands, knees, and buttocks. Any thoughts on what the rash might be?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Many viral illnesses in children are associated with a rash. As long as he is feeling better and does not have a fever, he should be okay. These types of rashes are called a post-viral exanthems and are common. If he develops fever again or seems lethargic he should see a doctor immediately.
