What Causes Fever And Body Chills After Having Flu Shots?

I 69 year old female, I had the flu shot for 65 and older, but I think after 3 full days of fever, coughing, chilling, that I have the flu. I thought I just had a cold at first but I m worse every day. I know you have a48 hour window for doctors to give you Tamiflu so what do you reccomend now?

Hi,
There is a possibility of mild flu like symptoms 2 to 3 days after flu vaccination and it is more common with live attenuated vaccine (in it some viral protein is used for vaccination which produces mild infection similar to flu virus).

Also for flu different types of virus strains are responsible in different seasons so we recommend yearly vaccination for flu.

you have taken vaccine aprroximately 3to4 year back so it will neighther give protection against flu nor responsible for post vaccination flu like symptoms.

As you have mentioned your current symptoms of fever, chills, cold for 3 days not mentioned about throat pain.
I will advise you to do chest xray, complete blood counts immediately and visit your GP urgently, depending upon trends of infection in your area, symptoms of high grade fever, throat pain, results of chest xray and complete blood count and your clinical Examination decision to start Tamiflu can be taken.
I find this answer helpful
