What Causes Fever And Chills After Taking Grafeel Injection?
Wife under chemotherapy.Chill followed by fever 2 days after taking grafeel injection twice a day for 3 days to boost wbc count.Wbc count increased from 640 to 18550.Currently on Levoflox 500 from 8 days & fever is fluctuating between 100 & 100.5 F She has wet caugh since a month. Please suggest remedy.
Hi Thanks for posting your query on HCM I have read and understood your concern Elevated WBC with fever signal infection.Grafeel may help to enhance immunity after chemotherapy but it will not take her WBC as high as 18550. Also, with cough since 1 month, her infection may be of pulmonary origin.Examination by the Doctor with a chest x ray may help confirm diagnosis. Also, it will be wise she does a sputum exam to exclude pulmonary TB.Persistence of fever while on levoflox suggest her treatment be reevaluated. In the meantime, i will suggest she tries the following: -A mucolytic like carbocisteine 5% -An anti-pyretic like paracetamol Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns Best regards
