What Causes Fever And Chills Even After Taking Antibiotics For Strep Throat?

my daughter has strep throat and has lots of chills, fever and sometimes says her hand or arm and also back hurt. She is on Azithromycin which she started Thursday.Her illness started on Tuesday and she feels still no better. Is it normal after two doses of antibiotics to see not much change in her condition? She keeps going from hot to cold too.

Hi,

Noted the history about your daughter having under treatment for strep throat with Azithromycin but still has fever, hot and cold feeling, body ache as explained.
Since she has taken 2 doses and if the problem persists then following are the possibilities and possible treatment:
First of all send samples of her blood for CBC, culture and sensitivity.
Any other investigations as would advised by the Doctor.
Add-on antibiotic.
Proper anti-inflammatory with painkiller property.
Symptomatic and supportive treatment in the form of proper fluid and electrolyte balance., multivitamins and so on.
Strict bed rest.
Review with your Doctor whenever asked for or if there is no relief till the full cure.
