Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my 3 year old was seen by a GP yesterday after 3 days if fever. She seemed to be on the mend after the appointment and doctor said she couldn t see anything obvious other than red throat. Though today she has a fever again and seems to be going down again.
The red throat along with fever and cough might be either a viral illness or a streptococcal pharyngitis. I would suggest you To consult ENT specialist and pediatrician again . Doctor may order a rapid antigen test along with some other tests like throat swab test and viral culture test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antiviral drug ( acyclovir ) or anti bacterial drug ( amoxicillin) depending upon the diagnosis Along with anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or acetaminophen . For now avoid cold and acidic food and beverages .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Dr. Harry
