What Causes Fever And Severe Headache After Cyst Removal In Perineum?

About 2 weeks ago my pointer finger became really sore. I pushed on it and pus came oozing out from the corner of the nail. A few days later several (roughly 10 to 15) pimple like pus filled blisters popped up on my chin overnight. A few days later I started to develop swelling on my perineum. Over a few days it grew exponentially and was so painful I could not stand to walk. I called my obgyn because I could not tell if it was my woman parts or a hemorrhoid or what! It turned out to be a a cyst and they lanced it in the office which was excruciating. She gave me a script for Bactrim (sent the culture off & said this particular antibiotic was in case it was MRSA) & Norco (for pain). That night I developed a horrible headache and fever of 100.4. I was up off and on during the night, but slept ok. Come sunrise, I could barely move because of the headache. I contemplated heading to the ER, but I m glad I waited because it was better by about 8pm that evening & my fever was down to 99.4. The next day... no fever. Now, 3 days after getting lanced I have a yeast infection (guessing from the antibiotics because I haven t had one in years) and it feels like I have a urinary tract infection. Do these symptoms sound like anything you have ever heard of or is it all merely coincidental? Some background: I m a 38 year old female who has not been sexually active in about 8 months & otherwise quite healthy. THANK YOU!!!

Hello,

You had cyst removed in the perineum, thereafter you have developed yeast infection and feel like you also have urinary tract infection. Post cyst removal in the perineum, you should take care of your hygiene. If hygiene is compromised the wound is at the risk of getting infected. Fever, headache, inflammations post removal of cyst is commonly due to infection. Continue to take the antibiotic prescribed you will feel better. Bactrim is a sulfa drug, in case you have sulfa allergy you can inform the treating doctor and get the medicine replaced by another that suits you better.

Get connected to a health care worker or visit ER, get your wound cleaned and antiseptic dressing done. Wear soft loose fitting cotton clothes. You can take a course of anti fungal medicine if fungal infection is detected. Get a urinalysis (R/E and C/S) done. If the reports obtained are positive for infection, you will be treated with a course of specific antibiotics. Control your blood glucose levels so that the wound heals faster.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
