Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Fever Despite Taking Ibuprofen And Tylenol In A Child?
My 6 year old has had a fever for two days 101-103 degrees. Treating with ibuprofen and tylenol. Fever will go down with meds but within 4 hours it has risen to between 101-103. He is eating and drinking. No headache, sore throat or earache. He is fine, except for the fever.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of fever despite taking Ibuprofen and Tylenol which seems to be due to infection either by viral microorganism and due to compromised immunity of body as well.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to give child proper rest along with plenty of fluids.
- Give combination of anti-inflammatory medication along with antiviral medication.
- Do tepid sponging as well. Avoid intake of outside food.
Visit General physician/ pediatrician once and get it examined. Get blood tests done if symptoms keeps on persisting.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
