What Causes Fever Induced Seizures In An Infant?

My one year old grandson has been having fever induced seizures. Each time they have gotten worse. As of today, after his spell this morning, he will be up running around, and then the next thing we know he falls like a tree that has been just cut down. No bending of the knees or anything just straight up falling backwards. And if you could help me with this, I would appreciate it.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Possibilities of febrile seizure or epilepsy must be ruled out. Consult a pediatric neurologist and get evaluated.

Additional investigations like EEG and MRI scans are required. He might require antiepileptic drugs to control and prevent further seizure attacks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
