What Causes Fever, Profuse Sweating, Cough, Body Aches And Bad Headache?
30 y.o. male, previous hx of ARDS 6 years ago, healthy now. Last Monday started fever 103, profuse sweating, cough, body aches, bad headache. Drinking a lot of fluids , no voiding much. PA though flu although test was inconclusive. Put him on Tamiflu and Ibprofen. Sunday felt pretty good, then today relapsed to again 103, profuse sweating etc. Any thoughts?

Your symptoms are high fever, profuse sweating, cough, body aches and headache. The probable causes of your illness are viral flu, acute respiratory distress syndrome, adenovirus rhino sinusitis, streptococcal pharyngitis, dengue fever, malaria, echo virus infection, cytomegalovirus infection and tonsillar abscess.
To those who come to my clinic with similar complaints, I suggest rest, tab. Acetaminophen every 6th hour, tab. Azithromycin for 3 days, drinking lukewarm water, gargling of Luke warm salt water twice daily, plenty of fluids, tab. Ibuprofen for body pains and headache and mucolytic cough syrup. If fever persists despite the above measures, you need to consult a physician for some additional diagnostic tests to rule out other causes like dengue.
