What Causes Fever, Sore Throat And White Spots On Tongue?
I have had a sore throat for almost 2 weeks. At the beginning i started feeling a fever, then i got a sore throat. It hurt alot when i swallowed especially while i ate and drank. Throughout the 1 1/2 weeks i have had, fever, stuffy nose, cough and sore throat. Sometime it hurts when i yawn or even open my mouth. My symptoms come and go but the sore throat seems to linger. And right now the pain is coming back to where it bothered me most. It burns a bit. My tongue is white and looks hairy. I cant really see any white spots inside my mouth. I have never had a sore throat like this before. What do you think is wrong with me?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have fever, sore throat and white spots on tongue which is due to viral throat infection with a superseded bacterial infection and the white spots on the tongue is due to secondary to infection like fungal infection.
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you throat swab culture to confirm the cause. You can be advised to take a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles and use humidifier in your room. Doctor may also refer you to oral pathologist for tongue .
You can also chew a Vitamin C pellet daily. Suck throat lozenges and drink plenty of warm water. You can also avoid spicy , hot and hard foods.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
