What Causes Fever, Weakness And Low BP When Diagnosed With Atrial Fibrillation?

Hello Dr. Andrew My husband was diagnosed with AFib a few days ago. He went to Emerg because he was running a fever and seemed very weak and felt like he had a virus... When he was in the emergency his blood pressure was around 170/85 and heart beat 85. His heart beat was usually around 45-55. He is has always been an athelete aand very active. He is 81. He also has had bypass surgery. In the last couple of days his blood pressure has dropped to 80-90/77 and pulse 129. This does not seem right to me. YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, the heart rate is high and the atrial fibrillation is not well controlled. Plus, the low blood press is not a good sign as well. I would recommend you to consult a cardiologist and get you treatment optimised.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
