What Causes Fever While Suffering From A Ruptured Ovarian Cyst?

My 16 yr old granddaughter recently had a ct scan because of lower right quadrant pain. CT revealed what looks to be a ruptured ovarian cyst. At the same time, she developed a fever lasting 5 days and the CT shows the spleen to be enlarged. She tests negative for mono. Can the cyst rupture be related to fevers and enlarged spleen?

Hi, I think cyst rupture can lead to fever. Splenomegaly can be due to some previous infection. So, it is not a major concern. But if she is having pain or vomiting and fever and cyst is of big size, it may need a surgery like laparoscopy. Discuss with your doctor regarding this.
