What Causes Fever With Headaches, Shivering And Pain?

My daughter is 6. She hasa very high temperature 40.4 degrees. She is complaining of headaches, shivering, pain in her right hand side (earlier around belly button) and is sleepy. I assumed it may be influenza, but Panadol is not bringing her temp down.

Hello,

First of all, infections trigger the immune system, which releases chemical mediators to employ as many as white blood cells to fight the infection, some of these mediators cause blood vessels to dilate, resulting in a headache and shivering.

So, you should do some investigation to know the source of infection such as: CBC, urine and stool analysis, liver function and kidney function tests.

The pain killer does not treat the cause of the fever, so you should know the cause of the fever and give your daughter the proper antibiotic, then she can take panadol to decrease her temperature.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
