HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The infection causing the diarrhea likely has him irritable. If he has a rash on his buttocks for the frequent bowel movements, this would also cause irritation as well.

In most cases, the symptoms are due to a viral infection but there are also other causes. His fluid status is the most important because both the diarrhea and fever cause fluid loss.

He needs to be given enough to prevent dehydration and to replace the electrolytes that he is losing.

Even if he does not want large amounts at a time, small amounts can be given every few minutes.

Probiotics may help with the infection but if he is dehydrated and very irritable , he should be taken to his doctor.

The appetite would return when he is well and is not as much as a concern as his fluid status.

I hope this helps
