What Causes Fibroid Adenomas In The Breast?

my duaghter has a confirmed dx of fibroid adenoma x one yr ago. We are both Registered Nurses and she was advised by her surgeon, who she works with to keep having the lump monitored. I discussed surgical tx and her surgeon did not recommend surgery due to difficulty with getting good mamogram pictures. She has been using the nuva ring for contraception. She now has another lump in the same breast. Could you give me your input.

Dear Customer , This is Dr. S. Tomar from healthcaremagic.com's medical team and I ll be your medical advisor for this question. First of all thank you for sharing your concern with us and showing trust on us.
Fibroid adenomas are most common type of noncancerous breast lumps which in most of the cases gets resolved , shrink on their own without any treatment . Keep monitoring the size of fibroadenoma With regular followup. If there are multiple fibroadenomas in breast then also surgery is not a indication if these lumps are stable means there is no change in size on ultrasounds.
I would recommend you to get this new lump evaluated that whether it is fibroadenoma or cancer . If its fibroadenoma then surgery is not needed , just monitor it with regular follow ups for size change.
Surgery of fibroadenomas are only indicated if there is some abnormality found on imaging studies , biopsy or clinical examination .
So for now first get checked this new lump if it is fibroadenoma then monitor fibroadenoma with regular follow ups for any change in size , if its stable and size is not changing over a time then no need of surgery . But if size changes over a period of time go for surgery .

This is my initial response and discussion is open until you have any query or need further clarification.
I wish you good health .
Thank you for your question and feel free to contact further for any question .
sincerely,
Dr. Shardendu Tomar
