What Causes Fingernails Growing Inward?

Most of my fingernails are growing inward, almst like claws. My family physician told me just cut them short!!! (that is not a solution). I saw a dermatologist who claimed that they grow that way because I bite the corners of my cuticles. I stopped this but my nails continue to grow inward. What can this be due to???

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are typical of ingrown toe nail. Consult a general surgeon and get evaluated. In severe cases the ingrown nail has to be excised by a minor surgical excision.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
