Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 83 yr old father in law had a grand mal seizer - first time. He s been tested for everything but he checks out ok. He is completely confused, blankly stares, doesn t seem to know what s going on. Is this a typical effect for an older person, and can he be expected to eventually return to normal?
The confusion in such cases may last a couple of days. But after starting anti-epilepsy seizures, the confusion should go away. If this situation persists, I recommend performing a brain MRI in order to exclude possible stroke and an EEG.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
