Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I want to know how long garnicella can stay in a mans system. My husband has a fishy smelling penis all the time even after a shower. For twenty years but when I go to the ob/gyn my pap always shows vb. can he have been carrying this bacterial all this time 20 yrs? I get treated and he gives it back. Is it possible?
Once treated Gardenella vaginalis does not stay in the system for the rest of the life. Moreover, the sexually transmitted infection does not pause a fishy smell on penis for the every time even after shower. The issue sounds to be in relation with the perspiration glands or other endocrine disturbances in your husband counter part rather than your side. Kindly get him examined by consultant Physician for best evaluation and needed swab tests of other for the final diagnosis and management guidelines in accordance to that only.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
