What Causes Flaky Skin On Fingers And Toes Of A Child?

6 year old son has skin peeling on fingers and toes, not flaking - as if a blister has dried up and piece of skin comes off- no other signs of illness-had the flu a few weeks ago for two weeks but is back to eating, playing normally- possible reasons for this skin thing and should I take to a doctor? I have been applying lotion and/or Vaseline for last few days. He says it doesn t hurt/bother him.

Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your son's experience of a flaky peeling of the skin of the fingers an toes I am suggesting that he has developed the following differential diagnosis

Streptococcus scalded skin disease
Impetigo
Dermatomyositis
Tinea pedis

In view of this please do the following test
Blood culture
Skin snip test

Meanwhile please see dermatologist specialist for expert clinical assessment and adequate drug prescription

I hope this helps Regards
