Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When I wake up in the morning, I have right side flank pain. I have had an ultrasound and blood tests done and they show no medical issues (they checked all organs including kidneys and gallbladder). The pain goes away when I move around and sometimes comes back during the day if I have been stationary a long time. It does not radiate to any other body parts - just the right flank below the ribs. Any thoughts? My GP doesn t know anything more about what it could be. It s been persistent for about 8 months now and it doesn t go away if I exercise, or improve if I don t exercise.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have flank pain below the ribs . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like arthritis , disk disease , pinched nerve in the back , muscle spasm , kidney infection , kidney stones , pancreatitis and inflammatory illnesses of the bowel . I would suggest you to consult general practitioner for proper examination . Doctor will take history , see that in which direction pain is going , order kidney function test , blood test and ultrasound . Doctor may refer you to nephrologist for kidney problem, orthopedic surgeon for nerve muscle and disc problem or to gastroenterologist if there will be condition related to gastric problem . For now apply warm compresses on back and upper abdomen and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Do not eat spicy food .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
