What Causes Flashes Of Light In The Outer Corner Of The Eye?

I m at work on my computer and all of the sudden, my left eye started to have flashes of light near the outer edge and then the flashes changed and started to rotate, much like fan blades spinning in a bright light. I don t have pain with it but it is making me nauseous. It lasted approx. 15 mins but is gone now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern
You have acute episode of flashes of light.
It is due to pathology in the posterior segment of eye ball like
Retinal tear/detachment and vitreous detachment.
You have to consult the retina specialist ophthalmologist and need to investigated for posterior segment by retinoscope and take proper treatment.

If flash of light remaining long time and associated with headache and flashes of different light then it may be due t migraine attack. For that consult the MD physician and take treatment after proper evaluation.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
