What Causes Flashes Of Light In Vision Along With Eye Irritation?

I started having flashing lights in the vision of my left eye. It s not constant, but annoying when I have it. Just wondering what happened and what may have caused this. First thought I had an eyelash in my eye and tried washing it out and then my eye became irritated. Had this for almost two days.

Flashes of light can be due to any breaks in the retina if you are a myope..
These can be due to tiredness or stress over eye also..
Do consult an ophthalmologist for complete eye examination including peripheral retinal evaluation..
