Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Fluctuating BP Levels While Treating Hyperthyroid?
BP of 195/115 with HR of101 resting then taken again 15 min later and results were 208/155 HR 125. Took beta blocker and waited another 20 min and 175/111 with HR 92. Took lisinopril with hctz and waited half hour now BP is 108/70 with HR of 74. I do have both high BP control rd by lisinopril and hyperthyroidism also usually controlled by tapazole. I am feeling better now but this also happened fri night, along with chest pains and a very weird pulsing feeling thru out my whole body but I controlled it the same way and sat. Was OK both HR and BP as I DO NOT want to go to the hospital. Could this be related to hyperthyroidism or was/am I having heart attack?
Though you did right for controlling blood pressure but you should take lisinopril 50 mg, regularly along with HCTz as you have it already. It can be due to hyperthyroidism but in presence of chest pain, EKG is a must and you should take cardiac enzymes test as well as Echocardiogram. Fresh thyroid profile may be repeated. Beta blocker can be continued meanwhile.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
