What Causes Fluctuating BP While On Medications For Hypertension?

I have hypertension and am on medication. Usually, my BP is somewhere around 135/60. Thursday, it was 158/90. Last night I took it and it was 111/60 - never, ever this low. Today, I got dizzy when bending over so an hour later, I went to the pharmacy and took it there. It was 77/60. Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Though there is a range of normal BP may be somewhere between 90/60 to 140/90, but still in your case, such frequent fluctuations in your BP is not desired. Therefore, you will have to work under guidance of your doctor, titrating your dose of anti-hypertensive drugs to a desired BP level. Any increase or decrease in dose should be in a gradual manner, so that the dose is adjusted every 5-7 days, till a stable desired BP reading is reached.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
