Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Fluctuating Blood Pressure In An Elderly Person While On Losartan HCTZ?
I m taking Losartan-HCTZ 100-12.5 MG daily, each morning. Before medication this morning BP was 128/63. At 2 PM it is 114/55. This has been happening the past few days like this. It started last week with my BP dipping on days I went to the gym... I m and 82 year old male.
Blood pressure normally fluctuates according to several different factors, including exercise, diet, stress, and timing of blood pressure medications.
With the fluctuation that you describe, I would not be concerned and would consider that normal as long as you are not having any symptoms such as lightheadedness.
If this is happening, your blood pressure may be getting too low, in which case your doctor may need to adjust them. But for now, I think your blood pressures look good.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
