What Causes Fluctuating Blood Pressure Levels And Dizziness?

I m an active 66 yr old. 5 11, 200 lb.s . I m muscular and work out regularly. I monitor my blood pressure regularly. Before I work out in the afternoons BP is around 135/70 bpm 65-70. I ll do 20-30 min on eliptical and bp has dropped to around 110/65, bpp 115 and I feel a little light headed. I do weight machine routine and sometimes bp is below 100/ 60, bpm 118. I have spells of light headiness for about an hour after my workout. Is this normal? should I be concerned? Thanks

Hello,

The drop in blood pressure may be due to fluid loss. Since you have intense workouts, excess fluid loss via sweating may be expected. If this is not replaced, then a drop in blood pressure can occur. There are more serious reasons for a decrease in blood pressure, but this is one of the most common reasons.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
