Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

SGPT is increased due to damage to hepatocytes or liver cells. Liver cell damage can occur due to various causes like infection, drugs, toxins etc.

Since the infection is viral the infection will resolve after treatment. As the viral infection will resolve, SGPT will also come back to normal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
