What Causes Fluctuation In Uric Acid And Creatine Level?

GM Sir My mom has BUN 113 and uric acid is 11.2 while creatinine is 0.93. She underwent heart by pass 3 months back and was kept on high protien diet due to low albumin level. She is 76 yrs old. Her creatinine was tested at least 10 times in last 3 months and was always normal. Please guide.

I understand your concern.
Increase in BUN is possible when a person is on high protein diet. Since serum creatinine level seems to be normal, it states that her kidneys presently is functioning normally.
However, she could be having high uric acid level due to cachexia, which is known during recovery phase following surgical intervention.
Kindly monitor her BUN, Creatinine and Uric acid levels frequently to ensure her healthy state.
Seek medical advise promptly in case you notice any gross variations in the results.
