What Causes Fluctuations In BP Level, dizziness And Tiredness While On Amlodipine?
I am taking 5 mg of amlodipine for spikes in blood pressure. I am experiencing some side effects...lightheadedness, tiredness, just not feeling great. My doctor decreased from 10 mg. Can I cut 5 mg in half? my blood pressure is 85/60...too low. O have no other heart problems. I am 82 and in great physical shape.
hi.. thanks for writing to us. I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Amlodipine widens your blood vessels, improves blood flow and decreases blood pressure. Light headedness, tiredness, headache, feeling of hot (flushing) are the most common side effects of this medicine. In some high Blood pressure patients, amlodipine might lower the blood pressure drastically leading to increased side effects. As the prescribed dose of 5mg is lowering your blood pressure to less than 110/70, you could try taking 2.5mg. however I suggest you to take to your treating doctor about your side effects and get the dose adjusted. you will need to check your BP regularly after this to make sure it is maintained. diet control, exercise, meditation would help along with medication. hope my answer helped. thank you.
