What Causes Fluctuations In BP Levels And Chest Discomfort?
I woke up yesterday with a very bad headache. I took ibuprofen and it eventually went away. But my chest discomfort didn t. I had my blood pressure checked with two professional bp machines. The first reading was 174/114. Half hour later I had it checked again. It was 161/110. Now, my home store bought machine is showing 136/100. Should I wait a few days to see where my bp is at? I don t have a physician I see.
Chest discomfort and persistent high bp are the signs of cardiac problems. You have not described about your chest discomfort properly whether it happens only at empty stomach or not. Is there any correlation in between pain and respiration. There are to many pathologies causing chest discomfort including cardiac, gastric, plural or musculoskeletal origin. A proper history along with clinical examination is necessary to get a proper diagnosis. Again high bp like systolic 160-170 is very dangerous. It can cause cardio or cerebrovascular disorders at any time if not properly treated. You have not mentioned your age as these hypertensive problems generally appear at middle ages and regular bp check up is mandatory. So its recommend to visit a physician to get a proper bp measurement. If there are persistent high bp in two check ups you may have to take oral antihypertensive medications.
