What Causes Fluid Build Up In The Incision Site Of Armpit?

Yes, thank you. My daughter always had mammal tissue under her arm pit since she was a teenager. Two weeks ago she had surgery to remove that extra mammal tissue. Her wound seems to be healing fine, however, she is have a lot of fluid buildup in the area and her surgeon has been draining it, and it appears again. Do you know when this will stop?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The collection of fluid at the surgical site may happen for few days. The only thing that needs to be taken care of is prevention of infection. In case any pain or irritation occurs, you need to consult your surgeon at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
